Other Islands & Atolls Hotels

The Belize Barrier Reef Reserve system is the 2nd largest in the world and runs offshore for the entire length of the country, north to south, for approximately 188 miles.  It is home to a large diversity of plant and aquatic animals and is one of the most diverse ecosystems. Behind those reefs are spectacular Belize islands, over 400 of them, many small and isolated and just waiting to be explored.  A number of them are home to resorts that are ‘heaven’ for those just wanting to get away from it all, relax and snorkel, or for the serious divers and fishermen.

To the east of the Belize Barrier Reef are 3 separate atolls of only 4 in the Western Hemisphere.

Atolls are reef formations that surround a lagoon and Belize is blessed! Those reefs are too dotted with islands within them. While Turneffe Atoll and Glovers Atoll are on the same ridge, Lighthouse Atoll is due east of Turneffe on a separate one.  Lighthouse Reef is home to The Great Blue Hole a large underwater sinkhole that is just over 400’ deep and one of the 10 top reasons to visit Belize!  These atolls offer spectacular snorkel and dive options with the reef and drop-offs, just minutes from your resort and it’s a mecca for fishermen, with flats all around!

This again makes for that wonderful ‘away from it all’ experience!  Come visit and see why Belize is truly a vacationer’s, snorkelers, divers, and fisherman’s paradise!
